Portfolio Task 3

Balanced diet

The increasing rising standard has allowed people to give more attention to health. Some people assert that a healthy body is the key to our wellbeing. As far as I am concerned, there have been both merits and demerits regarding to this standpoint.

No one can deny the fact that a healthy diet is one of the imperative factors contributing to people’s wellbeing. Malnutrition is still among the top causes of death in some impoverished countries in Africa, where there has never been adequate food distributed to each household. Lack of essential vitamins or some minerals can lead to severe consequences, even death. Nevertheless, a surfeit and overfeeding of junk food is not desirable for people as well. Nowadays, a number of people are plagued with obesity and diseases, most of which resulted from overeating or improper diet. Thus a balanced diet will help people lead a healthy life.

Admittedly, a sound diet is not the sole influence on people’s health. There are a large number of other factors. The sport is very important for health; regular exercise significantly boosts the function of heart and lung.

In conclusion, I concede that a sound diet is critical to our physical wellbeing. Nonetheless, there are many other factors to making our body function well.

Argument essay: mobile phones

Should using mobile phones while driving be banned?
The mobile phones are important for everyone nowadays but if you use them during driving it can divert your attention. I am going to write an argument essay about using mobiles while driving.
The first point I would like to make is that using mobile phones helps people to gain money from it; also they can chat with their friends. They can use their mobiles to receive calls from their family or if someone needs help. Using mobiles anywhere, in college, on the roads, at home and in the park is free and you can concentrate on your call. The second point is that mobile phones should be silent when you are driving to help you concentrate and to present accidents.
There are several arguments against using mobile phones while driving. Firstly, there must be a reason to use the mobile while driving: in case of emergency, for example, accidents and fires. The mobile must not be with the people while driving because they can’t concentrate on the road. They can keep their mobile on the other seat or in the locker of the car.
All in all, I think that mobile phones must be banned on the road. The people should follow the road when they are driving. In my opinion, we can’t use cell phones while driving because it is dangerous.

Portfolio Task 2

Reasons for studying and employer support in the UK

The first bar graph examines whether students of all ages study for a career or for personal interest while the second chart shows which age group employers are willing to support by allowing them time off work or assistance with tuition fees.
80% of students under 26 study in order to pursue a career. This reason is not so important as students become older. Approximately 20% of students over the age of 49 view this as relevant. A reverse trend is seen in students who study for their personal interest. Only 10% of those under 26 do this. The percentage increases together with age and 70% of those over 49 study for interest. For the age group 40-49, those who study for a career and those out of interest are equal (40%).
Employers are willing to support those under 26 (60%), between 26 and 29 (50%) and those over 49 (42%). There is less willingness to provide aid to those between 30 and 49 years of age. The percentage for these two groups ranges between 30-32%.
In conclusion, more students are studying for career than are studying for interest. At the end, employers choose to support the younger age groups more.
